Robust Integral Quasi-sliding Mode Power Controller for a Variable Speed Wind Turbine under Real Climatic Conditions

Maximum wind energy extraction remains a challenge for a wind energy conversion system (WECS) because of their higher inertia moment. In this respect, this work considers the challenges of reaching an efficient maximum power extraction from the variable speed wind turbine (VSWT) by applying an integral quasi-sliding mode control (IQ-SMC) scheme. Firstly, an integral sliding manifold is proposed for the purpose of achieving maximum power extraction as well as reducing mechanical stress in wind turbine (WT). Secondly, the designed controller is tested in presence of a real wind profile. Furthermore, the proposed technique stability is analyzed by means of Lypunov function theorem and the simulation results through MATLAB platform, are also exposed and discussed, where the designed IQ-SMC controller reveal the proposed method superiority compared to the classic Q-SMC controller.
