Drone Utilization for the Optimization of Green Supply Chains: Opportunities, Challenges, and Future Perspectives

Today, drones have become a revolutionary solution to improve the sustainability and efficiency of supply chain operations. Their potential for optimizing supply chains is also important, especially in terms of reducing environmental impacts, increasing operational efficiency, and enhancing logistics performance. Numerous sources cite the advantages of drone technology, which include cost savings, faster delivery times, reduced carbon emissions, power, and precision in performing operations across all areas. Despite these advantages, the integration of drones into logistics networks is a challenge. Issues such as logistical complexities, technical limitations, and regulatory restrictions are significant barriers to its expansion. The future of drone applications in supply chain management is being shaped by ongoing developments in machine learning, autonomous flight systems, and artificial intelligence (AI). Drones promise to transform green supply chains, but to succeed in overcoming today’s challenges, there needs to be a clear path forward.
