Cyber Threats Analysis on Connected Vehicles, CAN System, and the Role of AI
The cybersecurity market for connected vehicles is estimated at $2.9 billion in 2022, with a projection of $10.3 billion by 2032. This cost increase highlights the urgency and criticality of the situation in the face of cyber-attacks. The purpose of this paper is to understand the current issues and to study the proposed solutions in the security of connected vehicles. We will start by understanding the challenges of cyber security through real cases, to then study the vulnerabilities of communication protocols exploited by cyber attackers, notably the CAN standardized protocol and finally to study the innovation proposed at this level and identify the role of AI. This study aimed to demonstrate how urban mobility is at risk against the expertise of cyber attackers in violating the communication systems of connected vehicles, even if they are standardized and old. We concluded by demonstrating how, using AI and prevention systems against cyber-attacks, we can secure them.
