Synchronization Control of Heart Rhythm Dynamics with Interval Time-Varying Delays*
The dynamics of cardiovascular rhythms are of great interest because of the central role of the heart in the physiology of living organisms. These rhythms can be either periodic, reflecting normal functioning, or chaotic, associated with pathological conditions. This paper addresses the problem of H<inf xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">∞</inf> synchronisation control applied to a chaotic heart rate system with time-varying delays at the input. A Takagi-Sugeno type fuzzy approach is used to model this system. New conditions in the form of linear matrix inequalities are established to ensure robust stability analysis and to design an output feedback gain based on a less conservative condition for stability evaluation of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy systems. The results obtained indicate that the proposed control scheme effectively synchronizes the pathological heart rhythm dynamics of a patient with a reference heart rhythm dynamics.
