A Comparative Analysis of Direct Power Control (DPC) and Virtual Flux-Based DPC for Three-Phases Active Rectifier
Compared to conventional rectifiers, active rectifiers provide good efficiency and robustness, drawing near-sinusoidal currents with minimal harmonic distortion (THD) and low reactive power consumption. These features enable a near-unity power factor and enhanced grid power quality. However, achieving these advantages requires effective and robust control strategies. This paper analyses, investigates, and compares two control methods: Direct Power Control (DPC) and Virtual Flux Direct Power Control (VF-DPC). The study evaluates their performance in maintaining stable current waveforms under both normal and disturbed grid conditions, while ensuring low THD and a high power factor.Active PWM rectifiers are widely used in energy conversion, smart grids, transportation, electric vehicles, and uninterruptible power supplies (UPS).
