Experimental study of the thermal behavior of the traditional open-air oven in Northern Togo
This experimental study focused on two ovens used in Kara in northern Togo: a traditional open-air oven and a modern converted gas oven. The objective was to obtain the experimental thermal profiles of these ovens and examine their heat losses. The results showed that the traditional open-air oven generates more heat losses. This consequently impacts the potter's health. Losses in ceramic production during the experiment were estimated at 28.5%. The modern converted gas oven consumes less energy and guarantees the potter's health. However, the identity character of these ceramics is not preserved.
