Integration of Geospatial Information Systems for Land Optimization and Agricultural Production Efficiency
This study aims to analyze the integration of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) in land optimization and agricultural production efficiency using a qualitative approach through literature study methods or library research. GIS is a technology that is able to integrate, manage, and analyze spatial data and geographic information to support location-based decision-making. In the context of agriculture, GIS integration allows for more accurate identification of land characteristics, distribution of soil types, rainfall patterns, and soil fertility levels. This study examines various literature and previous research results to identify the role and contribution of GIS in increasing agricultural productivity and agricultural land use effectiveness. The results of the analysis show that the application of GIS can help in the planning of appropriate land use, mapping of areas prone to drought or flooding, and the development of data-driven precision agricultural systems. In addition, the integration of GIS with other technologies such as soil sensors, satellite imagery, and weather monitoring systems can improve accuracy and speed in agricultural decision-making. This study also found that challenges in the implementation of GIS in the agricultural sector are still related to the limitations of technological infrastructure, human resource capacity, and spatial data openness. Therefore, synergy is needed between the government, research institutions, and farmers in developing sustainable geospatial-based agricultural systems. These findings are expected to contribute to the development of modern agricultural policies in the digital era.
