O USO DO PROGRAMA 5S NO CANTEIRO DE OBRAS EM VITÓRIA DA CONQUISTA-BAHIA: UMA ABORDAGEM PARA AUMENTO DA PRODUTIVIDADE E QUALIDADE DO SETOR
This study examines the application of the 5S methodology in the management of construction sites in Vitória da Conquista-BA, a city facing challenges stemming from rapid urban growth, such as disorganization, workplace accidents, and material waste. The research is justified by the need to optimize processes in the construction sector, which is essential for local development but struggles with efficiency and safety issues. The main objective was to evaluate how 5S can improve organization, productivity, and safety on construction sites. The methodology adopted a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory approach, using a case study based on document analysis and systematic literature review, drawing on sources such as municipal reports, IBGE data, and specialized literature. The results demonstrate that implementing 5S can reduce accidents, such as landslides, through proper cleaning and signage (Seiso and Seiton), while also minimizing labor conflicts via process standardization (Seiketsu) and discipline (Shitsuke). It is concluded that 5S is a strategic tool for transforming construction management in the municipality, enhancing operational efficiency and safety, though its implementation requires cultural adaptations and greater engagement from stakeholders.
