Impact of Impeller Operation on the Mixing Efficiency of Kanbara Reactors
The 3D multiphase flow simulations are conducted on water and industrial‐scale Kanbara Reactors, validated with experiments showing a 3.1% average difference in vortex depth. Mixing behavior, turbulence, and wall shear stress are analyzed for three conditions: clockwise, counterclockwise, and offset counterclockwise rotation. Results show that the clockwise rotation achieved the best mixing efficiency (98% at 60 s) and balanced performance. Impeller walls experienced 2.5 times higher shear stress than tank walls, with the offset design increasing stress by up to 68.28%. The center impeller with clockwise rotation is identified as the optimal configuration.
