The Application Of The Plan-Do-Check-Action (PDCA) Cycle Concept In The Safety Lock System On 3-Crank Patient Bed

Explores the application of the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) method in the development of an Arduino-based control system for a 3-crank hospital bed to enhance patient comfort and safety. In the planning phase, requirements were identified, and a detailed design was formulated. The do phase involved the implementation of the control system using an Arduino Uno, relay modules, and linear actuators, alongside a keypad for user input. The check phase comprised performance evaluations, revealing that the actuator motor takes 15.53 seconds to lower, 17.56 seconds to raise, and the safety lock activates within 5.74 seconds. Finally, in the act phase, improvements were identified, including the integration of advanced sensors and wireless control for enhanced functionality. This study demonstrates that the PDCA method provides a structured and effective approach for developing and optimizing a hospital bed control system, ensuring continuous improvement and alignment with user needs.
