MOTIVATION OF UKRAINIAN STUDENTS OF TECHNICAL UNIVERSITIES TO ENGAGE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SPORTS

The main task of sports is to preserve and strengthen the health of a person and the nation as a whole. Health is the process of preserving and developing a person's mental, physical, biological abilities, his optimal working capacity, social activity with maximum life expectancy. Systematic sports activities have a comprehensive effect on the whole body: they strengthen the strength of all muscle groups, develop joint mobility, help increase the elasticity of the ligaments and tendon system, train the general and strength endurance of the body, strengthen the cardio-respiratory system, activate the body's immune forces, improve coordination of movements, allow you to reduce excess weight, improve mood, give a charge of vigor. Motivation is an incentive to act; a psychophysiological process that controls human behavior, capable of setting its direction, organization, activity and stability; a person's ability to satisfy their own needs. Motivation is a mental adaptation of the individual. It depends on a number of psychological factors of the individual. Not everyone can force themselves to play sports. It is safe to say that the formation of motivation is a huge amount of work, a path that a person must go through and realize, understand the seriousness of the activity before starting to play sports. The more significant any activity is for the subject, the better its performance. The need for movement, the need for physical improvement, the need to maintain and strengthen health - these are the motivational foundations of physical education and sports. Thus, to form motivation for physical education, it is necessary to create interest, form the need for physical self-improvement and the need for regular exercise in order to improve health, increase mental and physical performance. The student must realize the importance of sports activities, as they form a healthy lifestyle and the ability to eradicate a number of physiological disorders associated with dysfunctions of the cardiovascular and other systems. Physical activity is also an important criterion in the formation of motivation. A conscious attitude towards physical exercise and the effect are observed where students clearly know for what purpose they need to exercise, what level to achieve and how it can be useful in the future.
