Dietary Habits Among Sherubtse Students

The transition to college represents a pivotal period marked by significant lifestyle changes, particularly the dietary choices. Recognizing this population as critical in forming long-term health behaviors, the study attempts to systematically explore the dietary practices of undergraduate students at Sherubtse College. A mixed method approach was employed, integrating both quantitative and qualitative questions within a structured survey. Primary data was collected from 106 participants selected through simple random sampling. The data obtained were analyzed using SPSS 21.0, employing statistical techniques such as descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, regression analysis, chi-square tests, and nonparametric tests. The finding indicated more than half (56%) of the respondents reported having irregular meal patterns, with statistically significant associations observed between fast food consumption and Body Mass Index (BMI) categories (Somers D value= 0.271, p=0.011). These findings highlight a pressing need for universities to adopt a holistic approach to student nutrition, integrating education with supportive environments that facilitate healthier food choices.
