The Application of Digital Virtual Technology in Environmental Design
Traditional design processes often rely on static design drawings and models, lacking real-time interaction and feedback with customers, construction parties, and other stakeholders. This paper first studies the theoretical field of environmental design, the technical principles of digital twins, and virtual reality (VR). Then, this paper explores the combination of Enscape renderer and SketchUp platform, and proposes a visualization method for integrated architectural landscape design based on digital virtual technology. By converting CAD design drawings into three-dimensional models, material mapping, landscape layout and optimization are performed, and finally an immersive visualization display of the overall design of architectural gardens based on VR technology is achieved. Finally, the experiment selects a commercial building as the experimental object (the building contains multiple interconnected areas, such as office space, conference room, rest area and toilet) to conduct 3D architectural design using virtual technology. The experimental results show that the traditional design cycle is 45 days, while the virtual design cycle is shortened to 30 days, saving 15 days. Virtual design not only performs well in accuracy but also effectively improves communication efficiency. VR technology provides more adequate support for users’ spatial perception and layout understanding. The interface friendliness scores of most projects are between 3 and 5 points, especially Project 3, Project 5 and Project 9 (VR) all receive a high score of 5 points.
