Modeling post-retirement employment with the bridge employment approach: F-Delphi, F-ISM–MICMAC

Purpose Retirement is a fundamental change in people’s life cycle. Therefore, this event requires sufficient preparation and planning at the micro (individual), medium (organizational/institutional) and macro levels of society. The purpose of this paper is to identify and evaluate the indicators of returning to work after retirement by using the bridge employment approach and providing a comprehensive model for this purpose. Design/methodology/approach In this study, three MCDM tools, Fuzzy Delphi, Fuzzy Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM), and Multiplication of Interaction Matrix Applied to Classification (MICMAC), were used for screening and modeling. Findings After a detailed review of the theoretical foundations, 22 variables were identified, and by using the opinions of 10 experts, 11 variables were screened for analysis. The research model was formed in six levels. It was placed at the lower level of the medical health index, which shows that his health is very important for the retiree to return to work. Also, two indicators of commitment and organizational strategies were placed at the highest level. MICMAC analysis was also performed in four clusters. Originality/value This model can be a basis as a framework for bridge recruitment planning so that organizations can once again use their skills-knowledge-expertise in different jobs and even train younger people.
