Building Future Ready Factories with Digital
Manufacturers have reached a point where the benefits of traditional automation and machinery have largely been maximized. To achieve the next level of efficiency and productivity, the adoption of digital technologies is essential. While some enterprises have demonstrated significant gains through digital transformation, many still struggle with challenges such as calculating return on investment (ROI), identifying where to begin, and navigating the overall transformation journey. Furthermore, NDE 4.0 cannot operate effectively in isolation without a broader organizational digital strategy in place. A structured approach to digitalization is crucial. The journey should begin with a deep understanding of current operational challenges, process and technology gaps, and an assessment of digital maturity—tools like the Digital Maturity Assessment framework can be instrumental here. Design Thinking is another powerful methodology that helps identify user-centric solutions with higher acceptance among workers. This paper explores practical, low-cost, and easy-to-deploy digital solutions that address key operational challenges, including visibility, inventory management, maintenance, quality, and worker safety. It also outlines a step-by-step approach to solution deployment and offers recommendations on effective tools and frameworks to guide a successful digital transformation.
