GRČKO OSTRVO KAO MESTO ODRASTANJA U „KRFSKOJ TRILOGIJI“ DŽERALDA DARELA
The paper deals with the temporal and spatial determination of Corfu between 1935 and 1939 in The Corfu Trilogy (My Family and Other Animals, Birds, Beasts and Kin, The Garden of the Gods) by Gerald Durrell, a naturalist and brother of Lawrence Durrell. Contrasting with the gloomy and cold ambience of England from which the Durrell family emigrates, Corfu becomes a place of freedom, spaciousness, merging with natural beauty and the animal world, which the young Gerald Durrell carefully studies. The focus is on the description of the three villas in which the family stayed, as well as the splendor and contrasts of the city of Corfu. The paper will also present elements of the specific poetics of the Mediterranean, and the landscapes, culture and customs of Corfu.
