MIGRACIJE I IZGNANSTVO U ROMANU „MALI PRINC IZ AFRIKE“ MILANA PETEKA LEVOKOVA
The analysis of the children’s novel The Little Prince from Africa (2024) by Slovenian author Milan Petek Levokov shows, by using an empathy-ethical reading model, that various aspects of the characterization of the main characters, as well as the portrayal of their mutual relationships, are the key narrative strategies the author uses in order to help young readers understand the complexity of the identity construct and develop empathy towards children/people who face migration and exile in real life. Furthermore, for a more complete understanding of migration and exile, it is significant that the novel emphasizes the racial identity of the refugee boy, clearly stating that it concerns forced migration, as well as presenting the obstacles and injustice the refugee child faces in the host country.
