THE ROLE OF MANAGEMENT IN THE SYSTEM OF SOCIAL ADAPTATION OF MILITARY PERSONNEL

Purposes. The purpose of the article is to study the role and importance of management in the process of returning servicemen to full civilian life. The authors suggest that effective management of military reintegration programs, including a comprehensive approach to social, psychological, and economic support, will significantly increase their successful adaptation to civilian life and reduce the risk of negative consequences of war, such as PTSD, depression, and suicide. Design / methodology / approach. To achieve its goals, objectives and hypotheses, the article uses a set of scientific methods that ensure the conceptual integrity of the study, including literature analysis (to study and summarize information from scientific publications and legislative acts), statistical analysis (to estimate the number of veterans), comparative analysis (to compare different approaches to the concept of “reintegration” and to compare the experiences of different countries in this area), and a systematic approach (to consider reintegration as a complex process). Conclusions. This study underscores the urgency of the problem of reintegrating military personnel into society, especially in light of the growing number of veterans who need assistance in successfully returning to civilian life. Ineffective reintegration poses serious risks to both veterans and society as a whole, in particular, it can lead to alienation, depression, substance abuse, and, unfortunately, in tragic cases, suicide, as evidenced by the analysis of statistical data. It is important for society to realize that the loss of each veteran is an irreparable loss to the nation. It is important to note that the term “reintegration” is more complete and appropriate than the term “adaptation” to describe the process of returning military personnel to civilian life, as it implies the active participation of veterans in public life and their full inclusion in all spheres of activity. Originality / value. The authors have put forward a useful and currently demanded idea regarding the process of reintegration of veterans of the russian-Ukrainian war. The authors believe that for reintegration to be effective, it is necessary to apply a comprehensive approach that includes social, psychological, and economic support, which should be provided in close cooperation between government agencies, NGOs, and businesses, taking into account the experience of other countries, such as the United States, Israel, and Bosnia and Herzegovina, which have already faced similar challenges while developing their own reintegration models. Practical implications. Based on the analysis, one of the key aspects of the successful return of veterans to civilian life is their socialization, which reflects the process of entering active social life and distinguishes between rehabilitation and adaptation, which involves the restoration of physical and mental health. Effective management plays a central role in the process of reintegration of veterans, ensuring coordination of efforts of various stakeholders and providing the necessary assistance, helping to compensate for lost social ties and creating conditions for becoming an active and independent member of society.
