Issues of Restoration of Historical Values in the Pages of "Azerbaijan" Newspaper (1989-1995)

The article talks about the creation of the "Azerbaijan" newspaper, its activities promoting the ideas of independent statehood, and preserving our national values. From the end of the 20th century, the awakening of the people, the desire to get rid of the Soviet dependence for more than 70 years, the effort to determine the future destiny of Azerbaijan as a nation and state, the process of returning to our national roots was conveyed to the people through the media. In the late 80s of the 20th century, Azerbaijani public and artistic thought was more occupied with the injustices occurring in the country and society, the merciless massacres committed against our people, the active slander and libel campaign waged by the hated Armenians against Azerbaijan, rallies, refugees, and other problems. It should be especially emphasized that in the 80s-90s of the 20th century, the directions of activity of Azerbaijani journalists, writers-publicists, and newspapers and magazines published in Azerbaijan in general were multifaceted. Issues related to many problems that are the bearer of our national existence in the process of self-reflection and self-awareness became one of the leading problems of "Azerbaijan" newspaper as well as other press bodies. Interesting, meaningful articles on moral and ethical issues, the promotion of statehood ideas, the social roots of political processes taking place in the country, cultural issues, and other problems and topics were presented to readers on the pages of the newspaper. The “Azerbaijan” newspaper also focused on the complex socio-psychological problems occurring in society on the eve of the restoration of our state independence. From this point of view, the article interprets the articles dedicated to the preservation of Azerbaijan's statehood, the restoration of historical values, and analyzes the articles reflecting the socio-political, cultural, and spiritual life of the country.
