The Transformation of Journalism Genres in the Modern Media Space

At the beginning of the 20th century, when journalistic freedom in Azerbaijan was emerging, the development and formation of new formats became inevitable. Article authors were given the opportunity to subjectively analyze ongoing events. Both in news and analytical journalism, Azerbaijani journalists found their true purpose, and newspapers began to feature a palette of genres and significant topics that attracted a mass audience. The essence of journalistic activity, as one of the means of developing social processes, is particularly evident in analytical methods of reflecting reality. The modern media space, alongside print publications and weekly information-analytical programs that aim not only to recount events but also to analyze them, also incorporate elements of analysis into daily television news broadcasts. Examples include Azerbaijani news channels such as Real TV ("Analytical-Information Center Real"), Baku TV (News), ARB 24 (News), and others. There is a noticeable growing interest in analytical journalism- journalists working in the media are experiencing a renewal of their creative approach. Since analytical journalism thrives in a free society and is considered an intellectual level of journalism, it is important to note that internal content influences major processes and events. This trend has been particularly evident in recent years, as analytical journalism interprets, predicts, and offers solutions to emerging problems, adapting them to necessary conditions. Today, the creative activity of journalists incorporates "solutions journalism," which complements and enhances problem coverage. Reporters often feel frustrated when their investigative work, into which they have invested significant effort, does not lead to tangible changes. Currently, the structure of journalistic genres has undergone significant changes, and this transformation is still ongoing. A characteristic feature of this shift is that, on the one hand, it maintains a certain stability, while on the other hand, it remains dynamic. Today, journalistic genres are increasingly blending, and in practice, the boundaries between them are often blurred.
