Effect of Mcconnell Taping and Conventional Exercises on Depth Squat and Pain Perception among Labourers in Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome

Background- A labourer is a person who loads and unloads tangible items by hand, such as large bags, building supplies, etc. It is a reference to employment in the Indian economy. In stores and godowns, they spend more than two hours a day lifting weights weighing 10 kg, 25 kg, or 50 kg. For almost half an hour every day, they must climb stairs while carrying heavy objects. Patellofemoral pain syndrome might result from this tension on the knee joint. Method and material- For this investigation, a sample of forty participants was selected. Patients between the ages of 25 and 45 who had unilateral or bilateral patellofemoral discomfort during squatting and carrying heavy objects were included in this research. Design of study: Control experimental design with pre- and post-tests Data analysis: The data was analysed using SPSS version 20.0. Statistical analyses were performed using the VAS score, Kujala score, commonly known as the Anterior Knee Pain Scale (AKPS), and Q angle. The paired simple t test was used inside the group with a variation of F (f = 12.43), whereas the independent t test was used between the groups with a significance threshold of α set at 0.05. Results- Significant differences were detected within and between the groups for each outcome measure at each follow-up period. Conclusion- This study found that McConnell Taping combined with conventional workouts was an effective therapy for patellofemoral pain syndrome.
