"Design and Synthesis of Bioactive Heterocyclic Schiff Base Derivatives with Enhanced Pharmacological Properties"
Heterocyclic molecules constitute a significant domain within pharmaceutical chemistry, owing to their ubiquitous presence in nature and versatile biological and industrial applications. A substantial proportion of current pharmaceuticals are heterocyclic in nature, highlighting their pivotal role in modern medicine. Schiff bases substituted with 1,3,4-oxadiazole and their analogues have emerged as noteworthy compounds with diverse pharmacological activities, encompassing antimicrobial, antitubercular, and insecticidal properties. These compounds also exhibit significant therapeutic potentials including analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anticancer, anti-HIV, anti-Parkinsonian, and antiproliferative effects. Simultaneously, cyanopyridine derivatives, particularly those centered around the 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine scaffold, have garnered attention as key intermediates in organic synthesis and possess varied compounds exhibit a range of biological activities including antiviral, antibacterial and fungicidal properties. Recent progress in the synthesis of 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine derivatives has significantly broadened their pharmacological uses. This study focuses on the synthesis of Schiff base-fused derivatives incorporating both 1,3,4-oxadiazole and 2-amino-3-cyanopyridine motifs, aimed at enhancing their potent biological activities. The synthesized compounds were extensively analysed using advanced techniques such as Infrared Spectroscopy (IR), Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. This comprehensive approach aims to facilitate the development of novel heterocyclic compounds with enhanced pharmacological profiles.
