Technical analysis of full-power frequency conversion pumped storage unit
Abstract This paper analyzes the principle, advantages, and application prospects of full-power variable frequency pumped storage unit technology. Compared with the traditional fixed-speed unit, the full-power variable speed technology realizes speed adjustment through the inverter, which has the advantages of a simple structure, strong head adaptability, and wide power adjustment range, especially suitable for small and medium-sized pumped storage power stations. Although limited by the difficulty and cost of manufacturing high-power inverters, their costs are expected to decrease with technological progress and large-scale application. The simulation results show that the full-power variable-speed unit performs well in the frequency regulation of the power grid. In the future, improving the design and promoting the demonstration project, will provide more flexible adjustment capacity for the new power system and help achieve the “double carbon” goal.
