Parameter analysis of the heat release process of zeolite thermochemical energy storage reactor

Abstract Thermochemical energy storage technology has the advantages of stability and cross-seasonal storage. Adsorption-type TES is a thermal energy storage technology with great development prospects. Zeolite 13X is a cheap and safe material, and the conventional packed reactor bed is a simple and reliable reactor. In this study, a numerical model was established to simulate the output performance of the reactor, such as inlet moist air temperature, inlet moist air flow rate, inlet moist air humidity, and initial adsorption of zeolite on the output performance of the reactor. The sensitivity of the output performance of the reactor to the changes in each parameter is calculated and analyzed, and it is expected to guide the parameter design of the reactor bed. This study found that the output thermal power of the reactor is most sensitive to the change of the initial water absorption of zeolite, and least sensitive to the change of the flow rate of the inlet moist air. Increasing the flow rate of the inlet moist air reduces the output temperature of the reactor while increasing the temperature of the inlet moist air and reducing the initial adsorption amount of zeolite can significantly increase the output temperature of the reactor.
