Modern Seismic Data vs Past Geological Model Driven Exploration in the Atlantic Margin
Summary This study uses modern seismic data examples from North Atlantic Margin salt basins and South Atlantic passive volcanic margins to illustrate how long-established geological models are being challenged by clear observations on the data. The greatest lesson lies in the huge discoveries made by TotalEnergies, Shell and Galp in the Orange Basin, which defied all established models while available seismic data had multiple indications of significant hydrocarbon accumulations.
