Unlocking Exploration Opportunities Offshore Equatorial Guinea Using Innovative MP-FWI Imaging Technology
Summary Africa Oil Corp (AOC) have been employing innovative geophysical methods to upgrade historical data sets to address critical prospect-specific risks and unlock the untapped potential of Equatorial Guinea’s offshore oil and gas resources. By leveraging the integration of multiple existing 2D/3D seismic datasets, a newly reprocessed multi-parameter full waveform inversion (MP-FWI) imaging seismic volume, legacy wells, and gravity data, AOC has gained valuable new insights into the prospectivity. This reprocessing has significantly enhanced our subsurface understanding by improving imaging and depth modelling and has been important in highlighting the immense potential of block EG-31 in Equatorial Guinea. The work shows the importance of leveraging new geophysical technology and integrating it with existing datasets to rapidly mature prospectivity.
