Polymorphism of the plasminogen activator inhibitor gene in assessing the risk of eczematous skin lesions
The results of molecular genetic studies in eczema patients showed a high frequency of detection of the mutant 4G allele – 31.8% (35/110) and the mutant homozygous variant 4G/4G of the PAI-1 gene – 25.5% (14/55) (χ2 = 14.5; P = 0.00001; OR = 10.11; 95% CI 2.9 – 34.42). The heterozygous variant of the 5G/4G genotypes of the PAI-1 gene was 12.7% (7/55) in the study group, and 8.8% (3/34) in the control group of healthy individuals, respectively (χ2 = 11.42; P = 0.003; OR = 1.51; 95% CI 0.36 – 6.27). 4G/4G and 5G/4G genotypes of the PAI-1 gene in combination with an increased level are diagnostically significant markers of impaired functional state of the endothelium, a hypofibrinolytic state, and, as a consequence, are predictors of the process of eczematous lesions.
