Revisiting Block Potential using Cutting-Edge Multi-Parameter full Waveform Inversion (MP-FWI) Imaging
Summary The Boujdour Atlantique joint venture is re-examining the hydrocarbon potential of the block, acknowledging that previous work was advanced for the time it was completed (previous decade). In this project, we are applying cutting-edge algorithms to reduce some of the key uncertainties related to seismic data. Specifically, the geological complexity represents a challenge for imaging at the prospective levels, in the area of interest; for this reason, we are testing a viscoacoustic MP-FWI imaging workflow to both improve - and more correctly compensate for variations in – illumination, thereby enhancing imaging and resolution while preserving amplitude fidelity. We are optimistic that the newly reprocessed seismic data will help to derisk the prospectivity of the Boujdour Atlantique block.
