From Seismic Acquisition to Well Placement: A Fast Track Example in Deep Water Namibia
Summary Since the discovery of Venus in 2022, TotalEnergies has been actively exploring the deep-water basin of Namibia, drilling three additional exploration wells in blocks 2912 and 2913B. To assess exploration prospects, several 3D seismic surveys were conducted in 2023 and early 2024, covering more than 8000 km2. To enable rapid business decisions, TotalEnergies implemented an agile processing methodology, generating high-quality intermediate seismic products within a few months. This data facilitated detailed mapping of the Cretaceous lobe complexes and estimation of reservoir and fluid properties. In early 2025, based on preliminary seismic interpretations, TotalEnergies and its partners decided to continue drilling activities with new targets.
