CLASSIFICATION OF WASTE AT LANDFILLS IN UKRAINE: ANALYSIS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
An analysis of the situation in Ukraine during the transitional period of bringing the classification of waste to the standards of European legislation was carried out. The list of waste types that will be buried at the municipal waste landfill has been substantiated. The peculiarities of the industrial infrastructure of a specific settlement are investigated, taking into account factors such as the type of industrial sector, the amount of industrial waste that needs to be managed, and the availability of technologies for their recovery. Information was analyzed on the types of waste that were disposed of at the current landfill, which has been in operation since 1965. The Based on the available information, a list has been compiled of the most generated waste that can be sent to the landfill for disposal in the coming years. As a result, 7 groups (categories) of waste were identified, including more than 20 types of waste. Several wastes acquired the status of dangerous, therefore, in the process of forming the list, they were not included in it. Some hazardous wastes require additional mandatory laboratory tests, which were not carried out in the current work. Instead, the presence of waste generated in the course of hostilities, namely waste from the destruction of buildings, is taken into account. In connection with the temporary absence of waste recovery technologies available in a certain region, it can be tentatively assumed that the principles of the waste management hierarchy will be followed when removing specified waste. At the same time, part of the waste included in the list can be used to compact the landfill, strengthen its slopes, as well as for the construction of roads on the working maps of the landfill.
