Luminescent Solar Concentrators with Tunable Radiative Cooling and Self‐Powered Heating for Synergizing Energy Harvesting and Room Temperature Regulation

Abstract Energy consumption for buildings and space thermal regulation account for ∼20% of global electricity usage. One of the key measures to alleviate such energy consumption is functionalizing windows to enhance energy generation and reduce temperature regulation expenditures. However, versatile windows that integrate both energy harvesting and temperature regulation remain scarce. Luminescent solar concentrators (LSCs), which are large‐area photon‐harvesting devices, have demonstrated notable advantages as photovoltaic windows due to their building compatibility, but their potential for temperature regulation is generally overlooked. In this work, temperature‐regulated LSCs (TRLSCs) are prepared through high mid‐infrared (MIR) emissive perovskite‐polymer luminescent films and low‐MIR‐emissive transparent electrodes. TRLSCs not only enable favorable photovoltaic performance but also facilitate temperature regulation by tunable radiative cooling and self‐powered heating. Compared to conventional glass, the internal temperature is reduced by up to 12.0 °C via TRLSCs. Utilizing the competitive absorption between luminescent films and transparent electrodes, the cooling range can be conveniently modulated from 5.5–12.0 °C to 3.9–7.9 °C by flipping the TRLSCs, enabling adaptive thermal management. What is more, self‐powered thermal regulation is also achieved by transparent electrodes of TRLSCs for active heating. This work demonstrates the promising future of TRLSCs in functionalized windows and zero‐energy buildings.
