OPTIMIZING ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN MINING OPERATION: A PEROVISKITE SOLAR-POWERD CONVEYOR SYSTEM

The mining industry is increasingly confronted with the dual challenges of optimizing energy efficiency and enhancing sustainability amidst rising environmental concerns. This work aims to establish a conveyor system with perovskite solar cell technology that is efficient and environmentally friendly. The conceptual objective of this project is to develop, implement and evaluate a conveyor system that will work effectively with minimal energy use.To this end, a review of the literature on energy consumption patterns within the mining industry was conducted, as well as exploration of the research opportunities within the line of sustainability.Next up, a new feeder conveyor was designed and fabricated using SLG and lightweight perovskite PV cells with higher PCE compared to other photovoltaic products. Also, this research identifies a new perovskite solar powered conveyor system as a strategic tactic for achieving energy efficiency in mining. The study also outlined the aspects of success that could help increase the implementation of cost effective and sustainable technologies. The next steps, therefore, will be to add more mines to the platform and to extend the ways in which renewable resources can be used to make mining more sustainable. It also provides a raft of direction in shifting energy practice in an industry that is already on the precipice of change.
