EVALUATING PRESCRIBING ERRORS AMONG PEADIATRIC PRESCRIPTIONS IN TERTIARY CARE TEACHING HOSPITAL

The prescription error estimates in Indian context are largely lacking probably due to non-uniform prescription practices. Prescribing errors include inadequate information regarding the effects of pharmacologic agents on small children are high. The study was undertaken with the aim of nding prescribing errors in drug orders for in-patients in paediatric wards. the maximum number of patients had been identied under prescribed by the prescription errors about 69(61.60%) and minimum number of patients were prescribed by without prescription errors about 43(38.39%) respectively. The result is signicant(p<0.05). the maximum with no errors in category -Aabout 20(28.98%), followed by in the error with no harm category -B having the highest number of errors about 19(27.53%), then category-C 14(20.28%), category-D 8(11.59%). And the errors with harm the category-E only having the errors about 8(11.59%). The incidence of medication prescription errors in this tertiary care setting was signicantly moderate as severely harm causing errors was less found
