Analysis of the recycling potential of thin-walled Al waste within the framework of the Circular Economy

<ns3:p>The work presents an analysis of the recycling potential of thin-walled aluminum within the framework of a circular economy (CE). The analysis focused on the undersized fraction derived from the processing of municipal waste in Mechanical Biological Treatment (MBT) facilities. After the mechanical processing of the incoming waste, it passes through screens, where the so-called undersized fraction is separated, the composition of which varies over time due to the seasonality of municipal waste and the origin of the waste. As part of the conducted work, an attempt was made to determine the variability over time; the studies lasted 12 months and assessed the possibility of recovering thin-walled aluminum from the municipal waste stream. During the research, a series of trial melts were performed using modified fluxes based on cryolite with the addition of NaCl. The work was carried out using a laboratory induction crucible furnace</ns3:p>
