Realizing of efficient beam matching with a compact LEBT system

Abstract The PREF accelerator requires H + beam to be injected into the 60 MeV accelerator. To make the accelerator as compact as possible, a new compact LEBT (Low Energy Beam Transmission) system was designed. The total length of LEBT is 1425 mm. To achieve this compact structure, the beam optics were simulated and designed. The results showed that the beam efficiently matched the RFQ, and the mismatch factor is lower than 12.5%. The beam intensity is higher than 3 mA, meeting the operational requirements. The design layout, while ensuring the beam matching efficiency and the functionality of the diagnostic chamber, has minimized the length of the LEBT system. This paper describes the details of the LEBT system design and commissioning.
