A Stretchable/Foldable/Deformable Model for Vibrational Investigation of Origami-Enriched Composite Panel

Nanocomposites are introduced to achieve an optimized structure with higher stiffness and lower density. The new nanofillers with improved properties are used in the new nanocomposite structures. More efficient and tunable nanocomposites made of graphene origami have recently been proposed for application in structures that need controllable responses. This study is organized to present a novel stretchable/foldable/deformable model for vibrational investigation of origami-enriched composite panel. The kinematic-based relations are extended using the shear-deformable and stretchable models. The constitutive relations are extended using the material characteristics available in the literature works in terms of foldability parameter, temperature rising and amount of reinforcement. The governing equations of motion are derived using Hamilton’s principle with accounting the preloads. The large parametric analysis is presented to investigate the impact of thermal load, mode shape number, folding parameter, and amount of graphene origami on the natural frequency responses. It is concluded that the frequencies are increased with an enhancement in the volume fraction of reinforcement, initial electric and magnetic potentials, and a decrease in the foldability parameter, length-to-thickness ratio, and span angle. The main contribution of this work is investigating the impact of multifield characteristics of the graphene origami and piezoelectric/piezomagnetic material as well as foldability parameter of nanofiller on the results of the sandwich nanocomposite panel.
