DYNAMIC ANALYSIS AND OPTIMAL DRUG DOSAGE CONTROL STRATEGY OF THE EFFECT OF DRUG RESPONSE ON SENSITIVE AND RESISTANT BACTERIA WITH CONTINUOUS AND IMPULSIVE INFUSION
Antibiotic resistance greatly reduces the successful rate of treating bacterial infections and it is imperative to reduce the bacterial concentrations in the host. In this study, a mathematical model is established to study the effect of drug response on sensitive and resistant bacteria. First, the stability of the equilibrium points is discussed by means of the qualitative analysis. Second, an optimal dosing strategy is obtained to minimize the bacterial load in the host. In addition, a three-dimensional dynamic model with impulsive state-feedback control is presented to reduce the concentration of the sensitive and resistant bacteria to an acceptable range when the bacterial concentrations reach the critical threshold value. The numerical simulation is implemented to describe the dynamics of this state control. Finally, a brief discussion is given.
