INTEGRATED MANUFACTURING & SUPPLY CHAIN IN A PANDEMIC ENVIRONMENT
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed critical vulnerabilities in global manufacturing and supply chain operations, highlighting the limitations of traditional, siloed systems. This study explores the role and impact of IntegratedManufacturing and Supply Chain (IMSC) systems in enhancing organizational resilience during pandemics and similar global disruptions.Through the integration of production, logistics, warehousing, and supplier coordination, supported by digital enablers such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML), Internet of Things (IoT), and cloud computing, firms can achieve improved visibility, adaptability, and risk management. This paper outlines key components and enabling technologies of IMSC, and evaluates their role in mitigating disruptions, enhancing operational continuity, and preparing for future emergencies. The findings advocate for a paradigm shift toward integrated systems that facilitate real-time decision-making, optimized resource utilization, and increased responsiveness in uncertain environments.
