Design and Development of Automatic Cattle Feed Scheduling System

The traditional cattle feeding methods are often manual, time-consuming, and labour intensive. This paper introduces automatic cattle feeding system designed to enhance efficiency through automation. The system utilizes ultrasonic sensors for path detection and obstacle avoidance, ensuring the feeder follows a predetermined path and accurately places feed beside the feed fence. A container controlled by an ultrasonic sensor ensures proper feed level loading into the feeder. A user friendly-interface facilitates distance-based unloading, allowing for precise feed distribution. Furthermore, a wireless battery monitoring system notifies users when the battery is running low, prompting the feeder to return to its home position for recharging. The prototype underwent testing in various scenarios and successfully demonstrated autonomous feed distribution along designated paths, effective obstacle detection, and efficient battery management. The findings suggest that this system greatly enhances feeding efficiency and minimizes manual labor, providing a practical solution for contemporary livestock management.
