Improving Wireless Sensor Network Security using Enhanced Authentication Elliptic Curve Cryptography
Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are essential for monitoring and collecting data in resource-constrained environments, yet they face critical security and performance challenges. Traditional cryptographic methods often introduce high computational overhead, leading to network congestion, increased end-to-end delays, and excessive power consumption, all of which reduce the efficiency and lifespan of WSNs. However, to overcome these challenges, a novel authentication scheme that employs Elliptic Curve Cryptography (ECC) along with Digital Signature Algorithm (DSA) authentication has been developed, specifically designed for enhanced authentication to fulfil the needs of WSNs. This Enhanced Authentication Elliptic Curve Cryptography (EAECC) approach minimizes computational requirements, reducing network congestion and end-to-end delay has minimized the power consumption and prudent bandwidth. The proposed scheme enhances the network's resilience against security threats, improves bandwidth efficiency, and extends the network's operational lifetime. Thus, the experimental evaluations reveal that the proposed EAECC method outperforms traditional cryptographic approaches, offering substantial gains in delay reduction, energy efficiency, and network sustainability as well as providing a robust solution for secure and efficient WSN deployments.
