Direct Cooling of Arc Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor Based on Additive-Manufacturing Winding
In multi-axis machining systems, compared to traditional rotary motors, the drive system using arc permanent magnet synchronous motor (A-PMSM) can significantly improve machining efficiency. There is a serious problem of heating when the A-PMSM works for a long time, which limits the increase of the electric load. This article proposes a direct-cooling structure inside the slot based on additive-manufacturing winding (AMW). Comparing through finite element simulation, this design has better cooling effect than commonly used yoke cooling method and does not reduce the electrical load. By establishing corresponding thermal network model, the influence rule of cooling structure's parameters on the temperature of winding is obtained. By designing and optimizing the cooling structure's position, size and internal parameters, A-PMSM's maximum temperature is significantly suppressed. The electrical load and torque density of A-PMSM are increased, which provides experience for the design of the multi-axis machining systems.
