Autonomous Detection of Garbage in Water Bodies Using SSD

Water bodies are such treasured natural resources, yet they face great challenges from pollution particularly in the form of garbage accumulation. The proposed method gives importance on how image processing techniques can be utilized to uplift the functioning of garbage collection in water bodies. It is tough to clean up garbage collection in water bodies because the water always appears to be moving, and trash can be spread out all over the place. On the other hand, the old-fashioned way of doing it, by hand takes more time, effort and doesn't collect all types of garbage each time. With the use of image processing, garbage collection systems can automatically sort out the waste for its kind and make priorities on how to collect it on the road. This will give a chance to have shorter routes in collecting wastes, reduces more manual efforts put into sorting it, and facilitates recycling by segregating those trash that are recyclable. Furthermore, with the help of image processing technologies, hotspots where littering happens may be detected easily, and accumulation of wastes over time can be tracked. In summary, with the application of image processing to garbage collection, the process of its collection is streamlined, operational efficiency improved, and clean and healthier communities are achieved.
