The Manifestation of Emotional Intelligence in Preadolescents
The article reflects the results of an experimental study conducted by us, examining how emotional intelligence manifests in preadolescents. The research sample consisted of 100 preadolescents, girls and boys from 2 high schools in the city of Chișinău, preadolescents from the 5th grade (50 participants) and 50 from the 9th grade, aged between 11-16 years, girls and boys. The obtained results allowed us to observe that the components of emotional intelligence tend to increase throughout the ages, thus we observe that the level of emotional intelligence is more pronounced in preadolescents aged between 14 and 15 years, because the subjects have accumulated a certain experience that has shaped their personality and communication with their peers. The most developed components of emotional intelligence identified are: emotional awareness, empathy and recognition of others’ emotions. Analyzing the correlation between emotional intelligence and its components we have found that there are several statistically significant correlations.
