Unveiling the Role of V and P Dual‐Doping in Ni3S2 Nanorods: Enhancing Bifunctional Electrocatalytic Activities for Anion Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis
Herein, a facile synthetic procedure of nanorod‐structured V and P dual‐doped Ni 3 S 2 on nickel foam (V‐Ni 3 S 2 ‐P/NF) as a highly efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for water electrolysis is reported. The synthesized electrocatalyst features a uniform one‐dimensional nanostructure, which not only enhances the adsorption of reactants and electrolyte onto the active surface but also facilitates the rapid removal of gas bubbles generated during electrolysis. Furthermore, the synergistic effects of V and P dual doping effectively modulate the electronic structure, optimizing the adsorption and desorption of reaction intermediates while promoting charge transfer during water electrolysis. As a result, the V‐Ni 3 S 2 ‐P/NF shows significantly enhanced electrocatalytic activity, exhibiting low overpotential of 255 and 127 mV for oxygen evolution reaction and hydrogen evolution reaction, respectively, at current density of 100 mA cm −2 . In addition, the anion exchange membrane water electrolyzer single cell assembled with V‐Ni 3 S 2 ‐P/NF as a bifunctional electrocatalyst demonstrates lower cell voltages than the precious metal‐based Pt/C||RuO 2 cell at various current densities. The findings of this study provide valuable insights into the design and optimization of bifunctional electrocatalysts for renewable energy storage and conversion systems.
