QUALIDADE DOS CUIDADOS DE ENFERMAGEM NA REDUÇÃO DE DANOS AO USO DE DROGAS ILÍCITAS
Illicit drugs are substances of natural or synthetic origin that can bring various harms to the physical, mental, and social health of those who use them. In 2020, it was recorded that approximately 3% of the Brazilian population used illicit drugs. In light of this situation, the nurse plays a fundamental role, acting in the therapeutic plan and in a humanized care for drug users. Objective: the objective of this article is to conduct a literature review on the nursing role and assistance concerning patients dependent on illicit drugs. Methodology: articles published between 2020 and 2025 were used. Initially, 18 studies were found. After applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 9 articles remained, of which 6 fully met the guiding question. Results and discussion: psychoactive substances are those whose production is prohibited. Currently, chemical dependence is seen as a disease. They are classified into different groups: depressants, hallucinogens, and stimulants. About 7% of young people between 18 and 24 years old use illicit drugs. The assistance of the nursing team aims to undertake a psychosocial rehabilitation process for the patient, reintegrating them into the community.
