Clinical Supervision in Gestalt Therapy: A Methodological Proposal Toward the Formalization of the Process
ABSTRACT This article presents a methodological proposal to carry out a group process of Gestalt clinical supervision. It is elaborated from the experience gained over several years of work, when the author supervised therapists who practice psychotherapy with a wide variety of patients, both in public health and private settings. A formal sequence of work divided into stages is described, and an attempt is made to systematize the most common topics that appear as material for elaboration. The purpose and development goals expected from a supervision process guided along these lines are discussed. Finally, some critical aspects of the proposal are commented upon, and future directions for strengthening it are pointed out. Emphasis is placed on the need to design clinical supervision methodologies according to the specific health context in which clinical practice is developed, taking into account its political, social, economic, cultural, and scientific conditions.
