BENEFÍCIOS DA NEUROMODULAÇÃO ATRAVÉS DA ESTIMULAÇÃO MAGNÉTICA TRANSCRANIANA NO PÓS AVC ISQUEMICO
Introduction: Stroke is a neurological emergency, classified as ischemic or hemorrhagic. Neuromodulation, a non-invasive electrostimulation technique, aims to reorganize neural circuits, promoting the recovery of motor and cognitive functions. In this context, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), especially in its repetitive form, Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS), stands out for inducing prolonged therapeutic effects, modulating cortical excitability and positively influencing synaptic plasticity and neuronal reorganization. To investigate the benefits of TMS in the treatment of post-ischemic stroke patients. Specifically, to analyze the contribution of neuromodulation through magnetic stimulation in post-ischemic stroke for the functional recovery of daily living activities (ADL), balance, motor skills, and cognitive functions such as memory. This is an integrative review, of a basic and exploratory nature, based on qualitative bibliographic research. The databases BVS, PubMed, and SciELO were used, with a time frame of 5 years. In the end, 7 articles were selected to compose the results. Studies have shown that rTMS promotes the improvement of motor function, especially of the upper limbs, as well as favoring balance, gait, muscle tone, and performance in ADLs. rTMS contributes to brain reorganization by stimulating neuroplasticity, promoting greater functional autonomy. The need for empirical studies that deepen its efficacy and applicability in post-stroke patients is highlighted.
