Isomorphism of group algebras of metacyclic groups over the field of rational numbers

Let G be a metacyclic group, H be an arbitrary group and Q be the field of rational numbers. In this paper, it is proved that the group algebras Q G and Q H are isomorphic over Q if and only if G and H are isomorphic. In order to solve this problem, a necessary and sufficient condition for isomorphism of metacyclic groups is derived.

Abstract

Let G be a metacyclic group, H be an arbitrary group and Q be the field of rational numbers. In this paper, it is proved that the group algebras Q G and Q H are isomorphic over Q if and only if G and H are isomorphic. In order to solve this problem, a necessary and sufficient condition for isomorphism of metacyclic groups is derived.
