THE EXPERIMENTAL SIGNIFICANCE OF ENHANCING TITANIUM ALLOY NANOCOMPOSITES MADE BY SELECTIVE LASER ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING AND EXTRACTING BIO-SILICA FROM CALOTROPIS GIGANTEA
In the present applications in aerospace, landscapes, and automobiles there is a notable demand for lightweight and highly durable materials due to the increased and improved system efficiency. In the present situation, composite materials, especially metal matrix composites, can achieve certain physical, chemical, mechanical, and tribological properties. In this investigation, Calotropis gigantea agricultural waste is utilized to extract bio-silica nanoparticles, which are subsequently incorporated into the titanium alloy matrix materials as nanoreinforcing materials. A simple but effective manufacturing technique to make titanium alloy matrix (Ti)/bio-silica (BS) nanocomposites is selective laser melting. The specimen consists of four various blends of a titanium (Ti) alloy matrix with a base matrix alloy (100[Formula: see text]wt.%) and BS (2.25, 4.5, and 6.75[Formula: see text]wt.%). Investigation and comparison with the fundamental matrix alloy were conducted on the effect on mechanical properties, including density, porosity, microhardness, and tensile strength. With the assistance of elemental mapping, microstructure and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDAX), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) can be utilized to study rupture processes and worn surface analysis of tensile and wear specimens. The findings show that, when compared to base alloys and other composites, Ti/6.75[Formula: see text]wt.% BS composite has superior mechanical properties.
