Hydrothermal Performance Enhancement of Minichannel Heat Sink With Inline and Staggered Arrangements of Straight and Wavy Fins

ABSTRACT The current study aims to enhance the hydrothermal performance of minichannel heat sinks and regulate temperature distribution. In this study, several parameter investigations are categorized by the first procedure, divided according to the shape of the channel, straight, and wave. Second, the channels should be partitioned into equal segments based on dimensions and the length of cuts. The last procedure involves placing these components into two configurations: an inline and a staggered arrangement. The ANSYS Fluent 2022 R1 software was employed in the numerical analysis procedure. Laminar streamflow is utilized, with water serving as the coolant. The numerical current study results demonstrate that a wave channel (Model A) achieves a Nusselt number that is 18.74% higher compared to the straight channel. Also, results showed that Model C outperforms in terms of thermal and hydrodynamic performance, achieving the highest increase in Nusselt number by 25.76% and the lowest thermal resistance by 29.12% compared to the traditional model, with a clear improvement in the overall performance factor (1.29) and better homogeneity in heat distribution.

In this study, several parameter investigations are categorized by the first procedure, divided according to the shape of the channel, straight, and wave.
